Stanislav Aseyev was reporting from Donetsk for various Ukrainian media, after a part of eastern Ukraine fell under control of Russia-backed separatist militants in May 2014. In May 2017 Stanislav was taken captive and put in “Isolation” – a secret prison being used as a concentration camp, the premises of which a few years ago were the main cultural center of the region.
After the prisoner exchange Stanislav finishes his book about “Isolation” which he started to write during his captivity. He finally comes to the I-ZONE cultural center in Kyiv – after the territory of “Isolation” in Donetsk was seized by the Russia-backed separatist militants, the Cultural Foundation moved to Kyiv.
Iryna Riabenka grew up in Kharkiv, Ukraine and moved to Germany in 2016 to advance her skills in TV journalism. In Germany she worked for various television broadcasters and gained her first experience in documentary film. Iryna is currently studying at the TV Journalism & Documentary Film Department of the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. “The Bright Path” is Iryna’s directorial debut.
