Igor Shukatka
I was born in 1990 in Stryi, Lviv region, Ukraine. My favorite toys as a child were a Tape Recorder and VHS tapes. When I was in highschool, I saw the movie “The Color of Pomegranates” by Sergii Parajanov which changed my view of the whole world. In 2011 I began to study carpentry at the Stryi Art School. At the same time I started working in a furniture factory. I devoted all my free time to reading books about Ukrainian and Soviet cinema and made my first attempts at filming documentaries about my relatives. The global pandemic of 2019 was a huge trigger for big changes in my life. It motivated me to enter the Ukrainian Film School where i worked with like-minded professionals and shot my first movies. In 2021 I completed the Serhii Bukovskyi course of documentary film. Currently I am working on the film sets of Ukrainian movies.
