The film is about 13 students of school No. 3 in Mykolaivka, Donetsk region. In the summer of 2014, Mykolaivka became a witness and a participant in hostilities. Several shells hit school No. 3, turning it into one of the city’s ruins. This is the coming of age story of 13 teenagers who survived the war. The film is built on their open monologues in parallel with real life. The period depicted in the film is the boundary between war and peace, childhood and adulthood. These kids want to be heard and they have something to say. This is a film about friendship, first love, plans for the future.
Georg Zheno
Georg was born in 1976 in Hamburg, Germany. He got to Russia after coming to a school near Moscow as a German language teacher to work as an alternative military service. Entered the directing faculty of GITIS. Graduated from Mark Zakharov’s course in 2003. In 2003, he played the main role in Peter Todorovsky’s film “In the Constellation of Taurus”. Staged eighteen plays in Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria. From 2007 to 2012, he was the artistic director of the Theater named after Joseph Beuys. Docent of the Institute “Free School of Arts” in Hamburg. In 2009, he starred in Guillaume Protsenko’s film “Changes 89”. In 2010-2012, he played in the play of the Theater named after Joseph Beuys’ The Cargo of Silence (directed by Mykhailo Kaluzsky). In 2013-2015, he managed the theater laboratory NEDRAma in Sofia. In 2015, together with the Ukrainian playwright Natalia Vorozhbyt, he founded the Immigrant Theater in Kyiv. While working in Ukraine, he shot the documentary “School No. 3”, which was awarded the Grand Prix in the “Generation 14 plus” category at the Berlin Film Biennale in 2017.
