About Director

Andy Iva

I was born in a small town Bytkiv in Ukraine in 1987. From my youngest childhood, I liked to watch films about World War 2 and listen about the military exploits of my great-grandfathers. Later, I read all historical books about Ukrainian Kozaks (fearless militaries, who defended Ukraine many years ago).
And when I graduated from my second university – Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television on a theater director, the war on the Ukrainian Donbas began. So I decided to defend my country. It was 2014. There I saw a lot of things, which I never forget, but I would like. But at the same time, I learned about great friendship during the war. After that, I wanted to make a film about ordinary people, who defend our country and try to live in such difficult obstacles.

So I entered the University again but as a film director. When I graduated, I wrote script and won film funding. In 2018 I made the full-length film “Eastman”.
Now, 8 years later, when the war covered almost the entire territory of Ukraine, I wanted to tell a new story, where the main message was: “This war will affect everyone”. In this film, “Narcisuss”, are some documentary shots at the end.
